* * * What is CheckInOn.Me? * * *

Check In On Me is a proactive automated personal safety system designed for mobile devices. We check on you as often as you want based on checking "profiles" you create and re-use. You can add any friend, family member, co-worker, or fellow club member as a potential emergency contact. When we check on you, if we dont get the right response in the right amount of time, we contact your selected and confirmed friends and family.

If your GPS is on, we can track your location more precisely than without your phones location services running. Continued use of GPS running in the background can dramatically decrease battery life.

* * * How CheckInOnMe is better than other safety apps * * *

Other safety apps assume that in an emergency, youre conscious, have your phone, and have the time and ability to unlock your phone, find an app, launch it, and hit a panic button. During a health scare, crime, or other emergency, that scenario is unlikely. Proactive checking is the solution.

Many of those apps require one simple button press to cancel or shut off, which means an attacker could easily cancel your call for help. Our system is nearly impossible for someone else to disengage.

Family location apps will tell you where your childs phone is, but do not tell you if the child is still with the phone. By requiring your child to respond to our "check in," we can attempt to know if the child and his/her phone are still where you think they are.


* * * How to use our app * * *

Register, choose your "Im OK" and "Im Not OK" code words, and add friends.

Customize profiles in the "settings " area of our app. Then start a checking "session" in the "Set Up Checking" area. You can start checking right now (On-The-Fly) or set up "Event" checking for a future appointment in your phones calendar.

When its time to check on you, a notification will go off on your phone, and lead you back to our app. You can choose to "Check In Now." Enter your "Im OK" code word to let us know youre OK. Enter your "Im Not OK" code word to silently trigger our emergency process. If you dont answer at all after 3 minutes, the emergency process will be triggered.

Our emergency process does not contact authorities such as the police, an ambulance, the fire department, EMS, or paramedics. This is because GPS may not be precise enough to know your exact location (such as what room/floor of a skyscraper or large building) and our system doesnt know what type of help you might need.
